Moving need not be a nightmare. All of the hassles involved in relocating your family or your office can be involved with careful planning. The first step would be to make a moving checklist months before the actual move.
On your checklist should be things you need to do or things that you can pack ahead of time. They can be big or small, documents or furniture that you can store before hand. These things are items that you do not need to use everyday, so packing them ahead will save you time and energy during the long haul.
Your checklist should also contain important appointments you need to make. Appointments for meetings with the moving company, real estate agent, landlord and other people you need to see before leaving town should also make it to your checklist. Include in your checklist important documents like copies of insurance premiums, school and medical records of your family, jewelry, bank statements, leases, contract and other important records and things that need to be on hand.
Another checklist must have is a floor plan of your new place. This is important because this will make the unpacking of your belongings to your new location faster. Decide before hand where the file cabinet, refrigerator and other furniture and appliance should go.
Lastly, do not forget to include final walk through in your checklist. This will ensure that you do not forget to walk around your old place before leaving, lest you forget something. Open all cabinets, drawers, closets and other spaces and make sure that they are empty.
